SCREEN ENCLOSURES FAQ's

What materials are used in the screen rooms?

The frames of the screens are .030 gauge aluminum extrusions with a baked on enamel coating. The screens are 18 X 16 mesh charcoal finish fiberglass.

What colors are available?

The aluminum frames are available in white, sandstone or bronze finishes.

What kinds of doors are available?

The standard door is a 36” aluminum door with return spring and hydraulic regulator. French doors are available.

Can I enclose the screens with windows?

Windows are available as an option.

Can I use the window room four seasons?

The windows will provide additional protection from the elements but should not be considered a four season type room as heating and cooling to interior standards would be difficult.

Is the room insect proof?

The screen room in conjunction with a deck drain ceiling is insect resistant not insect proof. The screens and ceiling will discourage flying insects but the room is an outdoor room which insects can find avenues to enter.

How long does the installation take?

After the deck drain ceiling is installed we will measure the room for the screen panels. The panels are then made at the factory to size. Production of the screen panels generally takes less than two weeks. The installation of the screen panels generally takes one day. Glass panels generally take four to five weeks to produce and install.

What makes my deck a good screen room candidate?

First and most important is the patio below the deck. The screens must be anchored to the patio so it is critical that the patio extend beyond the perimeter of the deck structure. Your representative can advise you about patio requirements.

Do I need a foundation below the patio?

No, the screens are mounted in channels at the patio on the bottom and the ceiling surround at the top which allows for some movement of the patio.

Do the screens go all the way to the patio?

All of the screen rooms will have a kick panel at the bottom to insure someone does not kick out the screen by accident. Kick panels will measure between six inches and twenty four inches.

How does water from the ceiling get out of the screen room?

A gutter will typically surround the ceiling. Water from the ceiling empties into the gutter and from there empties into a downspout in a corner. The downspout will exit the room through the kick panel at the base of the screen.
